L’emplacement
La 16th Street Northwest, est une des artères les plus cotées de Washington DC.
Elle commence au nord de la Maison Blanche en traversant le Parc Lafayette, et se poursuit sur 12 km en ligne droite vers le nord jusqu’à Georgia Avenue.
Elle a été autrefois utilisée aux États Unis comme le tracé du méridien d’origine, dénommé « Washington Meridian ».
Historiquement utilisée par de nombreuses ambassades, du fait de la proximité de la Maison Blanche, la 16th Street NW est en grande partie inscrite au registre national des lieux historiques des États Unis d’Amérique.
Le projet
Il s’agit de réhabiliter une demeure de la 16th street NW, qui abritait dans les années 40 l’ambassade du Japon. Initialement très dégradé, cet immeuble a représenté une opportunité exceptionnelle pour démontrer le savoir-faire de la société Setim US.
Cette bâtisse d’environ 450 m2 comporte 2 niveaux, ainsi que des combles et un sous-sol. Elle est desservie par 3 rues et dispose d’un drive-way, et d’un garage pour 2 véhicules.
The location
16th Street, is one of the most popular streets in Washington DC.
It begins north of the White House through Lafayette Park, and continues for 12 km in a straight line north to Georgia Avenue.
It was once used in the United States as the trace of the prime meridian, referred to as the "Washington Meridian".
Historically used by many embassies, due to its proximity to the White House, 16th Street NW is largely listed on the National Register of Historic Places of the United States of America.
The project
The goal is to rehabilitate a place that housed the Japanese Embassy in the 1940s. Initially very damaged, this building had represented an exceptional opportunity to demonstrate the know-how of the company Setim US.
This building of approximately 4840 sq ft (450 m2) has 2 levels, and an attic and a basement. It is served by 3 streets and has a drive-way, and a garage for 2 vehicles.
